When Matu fell into his Force vision, it wasn’t just a simple thing. He soared among the stars and found a calling to several worlds before him. As well as a person he never expected to find.
In this special haunted edition of Heroes of the Hydian Way, Neema, Kith, and Lieutenant Hastings travel to the “basement levels” of the Shadow Raptor on a quest to find a missing Mandalorian and uncover the mystery of the lower decks.
In this special interview episode Ben, Kristine, Brent, and Leslie are joined by guest Keith Kappel, writer of the Age of Rebellion Gamemaster’s Kit, the “Dead in the Water” adventure module, and the upcoming Heroes adventure Friends Like These.
In this discussion episode, the GM and players behind our Heroes: Ben, Kristine, Brent, Leslie, and Chris reflect on their experiences playing the “Dead in the Water” module from the Age of Rebellion Gamemaster’s Kit. Along the way they answer listener submitted questions, goof off, and hint at what’s coming next on Heroes of the Hydian Way.
Showdown! Surrounded by enemies and in a precarious tactical position, our Heroes are going to have to scramble (and roll better) if they’re going to capture the traitor Oglerk and put a stop to these Imperial droid infiltrators in this finale to Dead in the Water.
After a disconcerting, if informative, experience at the Teagan Tech Consortium, our Heroes race to the Teagan droid factory in the hopes of stopping Captain Oglerk and, finally, getting some answers.
With arms laden with new “toys” from Kwiggley’s junk shop, our Heroes set course for Teagan, home to the Teagan Tech Consortium and, Force willing, Captain Oglerk’s final stop.
Cantina Clash! When a group of armed protocol droids interrupt a meeting with the vile Shoola the Hutt, our Heroes have to fight their way out while proving their worth to the gangster. All with a drunk Mirialan, a disembodied droid head, and innocent bystanders in the way. It’s just another day on the job for the Heroes of the Hydian Way.
Our heroes of the rebellion find themselves at the edge of the empire when they return to the Hutt-controlled pirate haven of Port Tooga. On the trail of the traitorous Captain Oglerk, our heroes pay a visit to the usual hive of scum and villainy: the local cantina….
Downtime! Now that the Shadow Raptor‘s course to oblivion has been averted, Neema, Matu, TV, and Kith have time to regroup, resupply, and pay the infirmary a visit as they prepare to track down the treacherous Captain Oglerk.
Race against time! Running on fumes and with only minutes left before the Shadow Raptor is swallowed by a black hole, can the master slicer TV and Bothan lightning rod Kith manage to bring the Raptor‘s engines to life before its too late?
Injured and a man down, the squad has to rally in the face of the swiftly approaching black hole, and brave the droid infested engineering section of the Shadow Raptor. Can they turn this ship around before it is too late?
While TV-93 and Matu race across the outside of the Shadow Raptor to rejoin the rest of their squad, Kith and Neema have to contend with their nemesis TJ-11 and dozens of droids without the help of their sharpshooting droid or fearless commando.
With the squad divided, Neema, Kith, and R4-M1 take their borrowed Y-Wing on a mad dash for the Shadow Raptor‘s aft hull. Meanwhile in the forward hangar bay, Matu thankfully changes TV’s orders as the unlikely duo try to stop the enemy astromechs from escaping.
Conga line! While the squad’s newfound ally R4-M1 distracts a trio of enemy loadlifters with a song and dance, Matu and TV maneuver to disable the hangar bay’s magcon field in an effort to suck the enemy droids into space. Meanwhile, Kith and Neema seek shelter from the oncoming explosive decompression in one of the hangar’s many Y-Wings, only neither of them knows the first thing about flying.
With life support restored and the bridge retaken, the squad sets their sights on the Shadow Raptor‘s engine room in a bold move to divert the frigate’s present destination: a black hole. With time running short, Kith and Matu formulate some….less conventional plans to reach the engine room while TV comes face-to-face with someone he dislikes more than Matu.
Divide and Conquer! While Kith monkeys around with the Shadow Raptor‘s sabotaged life support systems, the rest of the squad makes plans to assault the bridge. All the while their adversary, the tactical droid TJ-11, remains one step ahead of them. And as if that wasn’t bad enough he’s developed a new hobbie: taunting his enemies.
Asphyxiation! The squad reaches life support as TJ’s droids vent the last of the Shadow Raptor‘s oxygen, promising doom to the hundreds of “meatbags” aboard. While Kith learns how to unsabotage a system in order to save the crew, TV fulfills a lifelong dream.
Time for the old one-two blasterroo. The squad learns about Mandalorian tactics, meet the fastest gun aboard the Raptor, and demonstrates why tools shouldn’t be jammed in power sockets as they storm primary communications in an attempt to call for Alliance reinforcements.
A lesson in communication. With a small force of the Shadow Raptor’s crew in tow, the squad makes preparations to regain control of the ship’s communications array. Has Neema learned the fine art of stealth? Will the recently freed crew prove themselves as soldiers? Will Kith finally get to blow something up?
Surrounded! After Neema inadvertently gives away the squad’s position, they find themselves flanked by blaster-equipped droids. With the crew of the Shadow Raptor sealed away in the nearby brig, our Heroes are about to learn that short help is better than no help at all.
Now that TV-93 is equipped with a passkey, the squad embarks on a mission to save the Shadow Raptor from the mutinous droids that have taken control. With life support thinning, and most of their gear 11 decks above them, the squad has to move fast to secure the ship before the droids realize what is happening.
Mutiny! Following an attack by a newly purchased protocol droid, Neema, Teevee, Kith, and Matu find themselves trapped in a conference room aboard the Alliance starship Shadow Raptor. With the situation growing more dire by the second, the squad must learn how far this droid uprising goes and take whatever steps are necessary in order to protect the Raptor‘s crew.
Having secured their cargo of droids, the task before the squad is simple: find a way to transport them safely back to the Shadow Raptor. With an ancient tug, a grumpy Wookiee captain, a tactical droid who won’t stop complaining, and no coordinates for the Raptor, perhaps this task isn’t so simple.
As the squad searches Port Tooga for their Rebel Privateer contact, Captain Oglerk, and her cargo of droids, Matu learns an important lesson: it’s not wise to upset a Wookiee. Continue reading “Dead in the Water – Act 1, Episode 2”
